10/31/98 Hangfire Disaster, ODH, 2nd Floor East and Felix @ Philomath Teen Center
Coming all the way from Seattle to play for free, Hangfire Disaster played to the Philomath crowd of about 100, which is absolutely HUGE for this area. This was the opening night of Philomath's Teen Center that we had worked so hard to create. These guys helped a lot in the process of making life in Corvallis/Philomath a lot better for the kids. They're always the first to volunteer for anything that's a good cause, regardless of the pay. They played a great set, with Dave flying all over the place, knocking over equipment and falling on the ground. Kinda blew away a lot of kids who hadn't ever experienced hardcore in person before. Here are some shots of Hangfire:

ODH, another hardcore band, came up from Eugene and rocked the town. They're more the age of the crowd, so they got along with everyone a little better. The singer took some tips from Hangfire Disaster and was jumping around and going crazy. The set was cut short when he leaped off a stack of equipment and broke all the tubes on John's amp. 2nd Floor East played their pop-punk set. It was nice to see some old friends in action, although they did whine a whole lot about the sound system not fitting their standards as well as they thought it should.
Felix did play at this show, although most of us would like to forget that. They showed up 2 hours late and were basically total assholes to everyone. But they did get some of the chicks in a swoon and were delighted to sign various body parts afterward.
